The Southwest Monsoon brings rains in the Philippines
Rainy afternoons are to be expected, according to the latest update of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In a public weather forecast issued at 4:00 PM Thursday, Senior Weather Specialist Raymond Ordinario explained that while the Low Pressure Area (LPA) located east of Visayas has been dissolved Thursday morning, the entire eastern section of the country is now being affected by Easterlies.
Cagayan and Isabela will be experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to Easterlies. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by Easterlies or localized thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon.
Ordinario said that in the next coming weeks, there is a higher probability of afternoon localized normal to severe thunderstorms because of habagat season. No typhoons are expected to form or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) within the next 3-5 days, said the weather bureau.
