New business districts eyed in Baguio City

Due to the rising development and construction in the central business district of Baguio City. The City Officials have recognized the fact that such development will also contribute to the crowding of the central business district of Baguio. Such will lead to the insufficiency of water supply, road, and green spaces among others.

It is because of this that the City Officials passed a resolution under Resolution No.534 series of 2021 which strongly asks the City planning and Development Office (CPDO) to include in their review and update of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan the decongestion of the central business district and the establishment of new business districts in other parts of the city, specifically in the outskirts of the city.

With the diminishing available open space in the central business district of Baguio and the availability of idle spaces especially in the outskirts of the city. The City Officials saw the opportunity to help decongest the central business district by establishing new business districts in these available spaces.

The latest Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) of Baguio City was approved several years back and it is now due to be updated. The updating of the CLUP is necessary to ensure that there will be a balance between the implementation of project developments and protecting the environment.
