Not a time to be complacent however there is a reason to be proud of, not only for the Local Government of Baguio but most especially so for our medical frontliners and the residents of the City of Pines. Baguio City has finally reached zero active cases as of the publishing of this article.
Dr. Donnabel Panes of the City Health Services office in her Facebook post compared the different number of cases in Baguio City between April 19, 2022, April 19, 2021, and April 19, 2022. Noting how far we have come since then and commending the efforts of everyone.
This is according to Prof. Rizavel Addawe of the UP Baguio Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Prof. Addawe and her colleagues are conducting monitoring of the COVID-19 daily attack rate in Baguio City.
While this is wonderful news, it is not the time to relax and be complacent. COVID-19 is still present and in other countries like China and UK, it is still causing illnesses, deaths, and the lockdown of several areas. COVID-19 might have been held at bay but one fatal error of complacency could bring us spiraling back to our situation in 2020 and 2021.
