According to the 8:00 AM bulletin today, February 26, 2021 (Friday), of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), one hundred thirteen (113) volcanic tremor episodes were recorded in Taal Volcano that lasted for 1 to 34 minutes in the past 24 hours.
PHIVOLCS added that only weak steam-laden plumes were emitted by fumarolic activity at the vents of the Main Crater.
Furthermore, temperature highs of 74.6°C and pH of 1.59 were last measured from the Main Crater Lake respectively on 18 and 12 February 2021.
“Ground deformation parameters from continuous electronic tilt on Volcano Island record a slight deflation around the Main Crater since October 2020 but overall, very slow and steady inflation of the Taal region has been recorded by continuous GPS data after the eruption,” PHIVOLCS added.
Taal Volcano is at Alert Level 1 (Abnormal) and the public are reminded that the following can occur and threaten areas within the Taal Volcano Island (TVI):
