Coastal and Storm Surge Warnings
A high risk of life-threatening storm surge is in effect for low-lying coastal areas in Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union, with surges exceeding 3 meters above normal tide levels. Residents in these areas are strongly urged to evacuate as instructed by local authorities.
Sea Conditions and Gale Warnings
Severe sea conditions make travel by sea hazardous. Mariners are advised to remain in port or take shelter.
- Very Rough to High Seas:
- Up to 12.0 meters along Babuyan Islands, northern Cagayan, and Ilocos Norte
- Up to 8.0 meters in remaining Cagayan seaboards
- Sea travel is prohibited in these regions for all vessel types.
- Rough Seas:
- Up to 4.0 meters in Kalayaan Islands and Polillo Islands
- Mariners, especially those in small crafts, are urged not to venture out under these conditions.
Track and Intensity Outlook
Marce is expected to make landfall over Babuyan Islands and/or northeastern Cagayan this afternoon and pass close to Ilocos Norte and Apayao until early tomorrow (November 8). A slight weakening is possible as Marce interacts with the terrain of Northern Luzon, but it will remain a typhoon within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
After its expected landfall, Marce will continue westward, exiting PAR by tomorrow evening.
Advisory for Residents and Local Authorities
- Prepare for Severe Conditions: Residents in areas under Signal Nos. 3 and 4 should brace for powerful winds, potential flooding, and landslides.
- Evacuate if Needed: Evacuation orders should be followed in areas prone to storm surges, landslides, or flooding.
- Safety Precautions: Secure properties, avoid coastal zones, and ensure emergency supplies are ready.
