Tuba LGU Issues Safety Advisory Amid Continuous Heavy Rains

As persistent heavy rains continue to affect the municipality and Benguet as a whole, the Office of the Municipal Mayor of Tuba has issued a public advisory urging residents, tourists, and stakeholders to prioritize safety and take precautionary actions.

Emergency Preparedness and Evacuation Measures

Residents are strongly advised to stay alert to the possible impacts of continuous rainfall. Everyone is encouraged to prepare emergency supplies such as:

• Food and clean drinking water
• Medicines and first-aid kits
• Flashlights
• GO bags
• Important documents and other basic necessities

For families residing in high-risk or already affected areas, the LGU recommends voluntary or preemptive evacuation to safer locations, such as relatives’ homes or LGU-designated evacuation centers. Residents are asked to coordinate closely with their respective barangay officials.

Safety Guidelines for Businesses and Tourists

Business owners and tourist operators are urged to prioritize the safety of staff and guests. Common hazards during continuous rains include:

• Rain-induced landslides
• Flooding
• Road obstructions

Meanwhile, local and foreign tourists planning to visit Tuba are advised to postpone their trips until official advisories are lifted. Those already in the municipality are urged to exercise extreme caution and maintain regular communication with site managers or designated safety officers.

Road Safety for Motorists and Commuters

The public is warned to take extra caution when traveling along the following major roads:

• Marcos Highway
• Kennon Road
• Asin–San Pascual Road
• Naguilian Road

Motorists should be alert for:

• Falling debris and rocks
• Soil collapse risks
• Sudden drops in visibility due to weather conditions

Travelers are advised to stop or safely park if visibility becomes too poor or driving conditions become dangerous.

Mining Activities Temporarily Suspended

To avoid any further risk, the LGU has prohibited all small-scale mining activities during this period. Miners are also reminded to stay away from rivers, steep slopes, and other hazardous locations.
