The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued an update on Tropical Storm “Enteng” (YAGI), which is now moving over the Cordillera Administrative Region.
Track and Intensity Outlook
As of the latest data, the center of Tropical Storm “Enteng” was located in the vicinity of Rizal, Kalinga (17.5°N, 121.6°E). It is moving north-northwestward at 15 km/h, with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center and gustiness up to 105 km/h.
“Enteng” is forecast to continue moving northwestward over northern Cordillera Administrative Region tonight and is expected to emerge over the northwestern portion of Ilocos Region by tomorrow morning (September 3). From tomorrow afternoon to Thursday, “Enteng” will move generally westward over the West Philippine Sea, exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday morning (September 4).
The storm is expected to maintain its tropical storm category during its traverse of mainland Northern Luzon. Further intensification is anticipated from tomorrow afternoon onwards, with “Enteng” potentially becoming a severe tropical storm by tomorrow afternoon or evening, and possibly reaching typhoon status by Thursday (September 5).

Hazards Affecting Land Areas
Heavy Rainfall Outlook: Residents in affected areas should prepare for heavy rainfall, with forecast accumulated rainfall as follows:
- Tomorrow (September 3):
- 100-200 mm: Ilocos Region, Apayao, Abra, Benguet
- 50-100 mm: Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region.
- Wednesday (September 4):
- 50-100 mm: Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.
Flooding and rain-induced landslides are expected, especially in elevated or mountainous areas. The enhanced Southwest Monsoon will bring moderate to intense rainfall in other areas of Luzon, especially along the western portions, over the next three days.
Severe Winds The following areas are under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2, with gale-force winds expected within the next 24 hours:

Coastal Inundation A minimal to moderate risk of storm surge may occur in the next 48 hours in the low-lying or exposed coastal localities of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and northern Aurora.
Hazards Affecting Coastal Waters
In the next 24 hours, “Enteng” and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon will bring the following conditions over the coastal waters of the country:
- Gale Warning is in effect over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon. Sea travel is risky for small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas. Mariners are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions.
- Moderate to rough seas (1.5 to 3.0 m) over the western seaboard of Northern and Central Luzon, the western seaboard of Southern Luzon, the eastern and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon outside Gale Warning areas, and the western seaboard of Visayas (1.5 to 2.5 m). Mariners of small seacrafts are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions.
- Slight to moderate seas (1.0 to 2.0 m) are expected over the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao. Mariners of motorbancas and similarly-sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.
