A low pressure area west of Subic Bay developed into Tropical Depression Jacinto at 10:00 AM today, August 28, 2025. The storm is moving northwestward over the West Philippine Sea and is expected to exit PAR tonight.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the low pressure area over the West Philippine Sea has developed into Tropical Depression Jacinto. At 10:00 AM, the storm’s center was located 480 km west of Subic Bay (14.6°N, 115.8°E), packing maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 55 km/h, and a central pressure of 1002 hPa. Jacinto is moving west northwestward at 20 km/h, with strong winds extending outward up to 240 km from the center.
Jacinto will continue moving northwestward and is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tonight. It will then turn more west-northwestward over the West Philippine Sea toward northern or central Vietnam, where it is expected to make landfall by Saturday, August 30.

The public and DRRM offices are advised to monitor weather conditions and watch for the next warning at 2:00 PM today. Residents along mountain slopes are advised for possible landslides, mudslides, rockslides, and flash floods.
Small vessels and inexperienced mariners are advised not to venture into these waters.
Although no wind signals are in effect, PAGASA warns that the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Jacinto will bring strong winds, rough seas, and rains in several regions. Residents in flood- and landslide-prone areas are urged to take precautionary measures and heed instructions from local officials.
The next Tropical Cyclone Bulletin for Tropical Depression Jacinto will be issued at 5:00 PM today (28 August 2025).
