Suspension of Number coding, Classes and City Government Work in Baguio Extended for July 28, 2023

In a recent announcement made by the city’s acting Mayor Faustino Olowan by virtue of Executive order 99 series of 2023, the suspension of classes across all levels – covering both public and private educational institutions – as well as work in city government offices will be extended to July 28, 2023. This decision comes in light of the need for restoration efforts following the damages inflicted by Typhoon ‘Egay’.

Key Points from the Announcement:

1. Scope of Suspension: Apart from the educational institutions, the suspension also covers work in city government offices. This is to prioritize the safety of students, faculty, and city government employees and to hasten the restoration process in the aftermath of the typhoon.
2. National Government Offices: Local branches of National Government Offices will also see work suspensions unless they provide critical emergency services. However, any decision to suspend activities needs clearance from their respective Regional or Central Office.
3. Private Sector Advisory: While the government has taken proactive steps in its domains, private business establishments, and offices are granted the discretion to suspend work. The decision is left to their respective heads of office, ensuring flexibility and consideration of their unique situations.
4. Vehicle Number Coding: To aid the swift movement of emergency and restoration vehicles, the vehicle number coding has been suspended for the day as allowed in Section 7 paragraph (a) of the Number Coding Ordinance.
