The Philippines, on Thursday, March 4, 2021, received the first batch of COVID-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca. The 487,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Thursday evening.
The arrival of the said vaccines was welcomed by Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, government officials, and foreign dignitaries.

According to the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), the delivery of the AstraZeneca vaccines was arranged through the World Health Organization-led COVAX facility.
The AstraZeneca vaccines were the first allocated doses from the COVAX Facility and the second batch of vaccines that already arrived in the country. The Philippines has received the first batch of COVID-19 vaccine from Sinovac on February 28, 2021, and on March 1, 2021, the vaccination program in the country has officially started.
