As of 5:00 AM on October 22, 2024, Tropical StormKristine has intensified, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h and gusts of up to 80 km/h. The storm is currently located 390 km east of Virac, Catanduanes, and is moving westward at 15 km/h. Its winds extend up to 680 km from the center, affecting several regions across the country.
These areas may experience strong winds of 39 to 61 km/h within the next 36 hours. Minimal to minor impacts on life and property are expected.
A Gale Warning is in effect for the eastern seaboard of Luzon, the southern seaboard of Southern Luzon, and the eastern seaboard of Visayas. Sea conditions will range from rough to very rough, making sea travel risky, especially for small vessels. Mariners are advised to remain in port until conditions improve.
Tropical Storm Kristine is expected to move northwestward and may make landfall over Isabela on October 23, 2024. Rapid intensification into a typhoon category is possible as it exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility by October 25, 2024.
