Boating activities at Burnham Lake are expected to resume on September 1, 2026, as the city prepares to reopen the popular attraction during the Baguio Day celebration.
Burnham Lake is being prepared to receive visitors again on September 1 after being closed for rehabilitation since October 2025, Mayor Benjamin Magalong announced.
The mayor said the lake currently contains about half of its desired water volume. City officials are counting on additional rainfall in the coming weeks to help raise the lake to a more suitable level before operations resume.
Visitors can also expect to see newly acquired boats once the lake reopens. The imported units are part of the city government’s broader effort to upgrade boating services and improve the condition of the attraction.
Older boats that are already worn out or considered unsuitable for passenger use will not be permitted to return to the lake.
The city hopes that replacing aging units will provide passengers with a safer, more comfortable, and more enjoyable experience.
Magalong also called on concessionaires and boat operators to support the city’s updated requirements for operations at Burnham Lake.
He said the planned changes are intended to protect passengers, improve the quality of service, and ensure that one of Baguio City’s best-known attractions is properly maintained.
The reopening will bring back one of Burnham Park’s most popular activities as the city celebrates its founding anniversary on September 1.
