Kennon Road Closed Indefinitely Due to Collapsed Retaining Wall; Alternate Routes Advised

Baguio City, Philippines – Kennon Road, a major thoroughfare connecting Baguio City to the lowlands, has been closed to all types of vehicles due to a collapsed retaining wall caused by heavy rains that battered the area yesterday. The closure is indefinite, and motorists are advised to find alternative routes.

The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) confirmed that the collapsed soil and retaining wall occurred at Camp 6 in Tuba, Benguet. The incident has rendered the road unsafe for travel, and it will remain closed until further notice.

Motorists traveling to and from Baguio City are advised to take alternate routes, including the Baguio-Bauang Road (Naguilian Road) and Marcos Highway. These routes are expected to experience increased traffic volume as a result of the closure, so drivers are encouraged to plan accordingly.

The DPWH-CAR is working closely with local authorities to assess the damage and determine the necessary repairs. The safety of the public remains their top priority, and the road will only be reopened once it is deemed safe for passage.

Stay tuned for updates on the situation and any changes in advisories as more information becomes available.
