Your step-by-step guide on how to pay your BWD bill using GCash.
Going out in public nowadays and using physical money to buy necessities or to pay bills could be somehow hazardous due to the threats brought about by the ongoing Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19 pandemic.
Although there is currently no evidence to confirm or disprove that the COVID-19 virus can be transmitted through coins and banknotes, the World Health Organization (WHO) still warns people that respiratory droplets expelled from an infected person can contaminate and persist on surfaces. Thus, WHO encourages everyone to wash their hands regularly and thoroughly after touching any frequently-touched surface or objects, including coins and banknotes.
This is why it might be better if we are to limit cash payments by trying cashless transactions instead of these days.
Even Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, as reported by Public Information Office – City of Baguio on July 28, 2020, is also urging Baguio residents to subscribe to cashless transactions.
Now here’s good news for those who would like to go cashless on paying their water bills: Baguio Water District (BWD) is now on GCash.
What is GCash? It is a platform that can turn your mobile devices into a virtual wallet. Thus, it can also be used in making cashless transactions whenever needed. GCash is partnered with over four hundred (400) billers nationwide, and as mentioned, now including BWD.
Before you can proceed with any of the steps below, see to it first that your mobile device is connected to an internet connection or that your mobile data is turned on.
If you already have the GCash app on your mobile device, skip to STEP 4 right away. But if you don’t, then proceed on downloading the app from either Google Play or App Store. The GCash app is free to download.
Get started! If you don’t have a GCash account yet, create one to be able to go to further steps. There’s no required fee to go about this step, plus the app will be guiding you throughout the entire process until you get to fully set up your account.
Open the GCash app and enter your pin. Note that there should be enough Available Balance on your account before you can do any payment. Assuming that you have enough balance, tap the Pay Bills icon from your GCash dashboard.
From the Pay Bills page, see the Biller Categories. Among the total of fifteen (15) categories, select Water Utilities.
Under the Water Utilities list, look for Baguio Water District. Once found, tap it.
The list is arranged alphabetically so it won’t be a problem finding it right away. But if you do have trouble finding it, just tap the magnifying glass icon located at the upper right portion of your screen to search for it.
Now input the necessary account details (10-11 Digits Valid Account Number and Account Name) and the Amount you’re paying.
You may also enter your email address if you want. By providing your email address, you will be able to receive an electronic receipt from GCash. The said receipt may serve as additional proof of payment apart from the SMS confirmation.
Note that a five pesos (Php 5.00) convenience fee will e charged on top of the total amount of your BWD water bill when paying through GCash.
Once you’re done inputting the necessary information, double-check if you’ve entered it right. After doing so, tap the blue icon on the bottom of your screen which read Next.
Then choose from GCash and GCredit under My Payment Source. Once decided which one it will be, tap the blue icon that says Next to confirm your payment.
Wait for the confirmation text message and/or email that you are done.
