The Department of Foreign Affairs warns of delays in passport releases due to supply chain disruptions linked to the Middle East crisis, with processing now taking up to 15 working days.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has issued an advisory informing the public of delays in the release of newly applied passports. The delays are attributed to logistical and supply chain disruptions brought about by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
The advisory, released on April 8, 2026, affects applicants who filed their passport applications beginning the last week of March 2026.
According to the DFA, passport processing times may now take approximately 10 to 15 working days from the date of application. This is longer than the usual turnaround time and will remain in effect until further notice.
The agency emphasized that these delays are temporary and are being addressed in coordination with its third-party service provider responsible for printing Philippine ePassports.
The disruption stems from ongoing logistical challenges tied to the Middle East crisis, which has affected global supply chains. These disruptions have impacted the availability and timely production of passport materials.
The DFA assured the public that efforts are underway to resolve the issue and restore normal passport processing operations as soon as possible.
