Filipino travelers may continue visiting Taiwan without applying for a visa after the visa-free entry program was extended for another year. Taiwan passport holders may also enter the Philippines visa-free for stays of up to 14 days.
Taiwan has extended its visa-free entry privilege for Philippine passport holders for another year, allowing Filipino travelers to stay in Taiwan for up to 14 days without securing a visa.
The extension will take effect on August 1, 2026, immediately after the current visa-free period ends, and will remain valid until July 31, 2027.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines said the extension follows the Philippines’ decision to continue granting similar visa-free privileges to Taiwan passport holders.
Under Taiwan’s visa-free entry guidelines, Philippine passport holders must meet the following requirements:
An ordinary passport valid for at least six months upon entry
A confirmed return or onward ticket with a reserved seat
Proof of accommodation, such as a hotel reservation, or the contact details of a host or sponsor
Sufficient funds for the planned stay
A completed Taiwan online immigration arrival card within seven days before arrival
The visa-free privilege does not apply to holders of Philippine diplomatic or official/service passports. Immigration officers may also deny entry to travelers who do not meet Taiwan’s immigration requirements.
The 14-day stay is counted beginning on the day after the traveler arrives in Taiwan. The visa-free stay is generally not extendable, and travelers must leave Taiwan before the permitted period ends.
The Philippines has also extended its 14-day visa-free entry privilege for Taiwan passport holders.
The arrangement took effect on July 1, 2026, and will remain valid until June 30, 2027. Taiwan passport holders traveling to the Philippines for 14 days or less will not need to apply for a Philippine visa before their trip.
Travelers from Taiwan are still required to meet Philippine immigration requirements, including carrying a valid passport and completing their arrival and customs information through the Philippine eTraveleTravel platform. The online registration must be completed within 72 hours before departure for the Philippines.
The reciprocal visa-free arrangements are expected to make travel between Taiwan and the Philippines more convenient while supporting tourism, business exchanges, and closer people-to-people ties.
