Super Typhoon Bavi, now named Inday by PAGASA, remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility but is expected to enter PAR early Wednesday morning, July 8. Wind Signal No. 1 has been raised over the northeastern portion of Cagayan as the super typhoon continues to move westward.
Super Typhoon Bavi is now being referred to locally as Inday, PAGASA said in its Tropical Cyclone Bulletin No. 1 issued at 11:00 PM on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
Although Inday remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of the latest bulletin, PAGASA said it is forecast to enter PAR early Wednesday morning, July 8.
The super typhoon is expected to remain over the Philippine Sea and move generally northwestward toward the Ryukyu Islands. It will be nearest to Extreme Northern Luzon by Friday, July 10, before heading toward the north of Taiwan.
As of 10:00 PM, the center of the eye of Super Typhoon Inday was estimated at 1,545 kilometers east of Northern Luzon, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Inday had maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 230 kilometers per hour, and a central pressure of 930 hectopascals.
It was moving westward at 30 kilometers per hour.
Strong to typhoon-force winds extend outward up to 900 kilometers from the center.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is now hoisted over the northeastern portion of Cagayan, particularly:
– Santa Ana
– Gonzaga
– Lal-Lo
– Gattaran
– Santa Teresita
Areas under Signal No. 1 may experience winds ranging from 39 to 61 kilometers per hour within 36 hours. PAGASA said these winds may pose a minimal to minor threat to life and property.
Baguio City, Benguet, and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region are not under any tropical cyclone wind signal based on the 11:00 PM bulletin.
PAGASA said the highest wind signal that may be hoisted during Inday’s passage is Wind Signal No. 2 or Wind Signal No. 3.
Wind signals are currently focused on parts of Northern Luzon, but PAGASA reminded the public that heavy rainfall and strong winds may still be experienced outside the forecast confidence cone.
The track may still shift within the forecast cone, and further updates are expected as Inday enters PAR.
PAGASA said the enhanced Southwest Monsoon and the outer circulation of Super Typhoon Inday may bring strong to gale-force gusts to several areas, especially in coastal and upland locations exposed to winds.
The affected areas include:
– Most of Mindanao
– Pangasinan
– Zambales
– Bataan
– Cavite
– Batangas
– Most of MIMAROPA
– Most of Bicol Region
– Most of Visayas
– Most of Mindanao
– Most of the country
For Baguio City and the Cordillera, residents are advised to keep monitoring updates, especially by Thursday when windy conditions may affect most parts of the country.
Residents should secure loose outdoor objects such as tarpaulins, signboards, plant pots, and light materials. Motorists should also exercise caution along mountain roads, especially during periods of rain, fog, or reduced visibility.
PAGASA advised the public to refer to Weather Advisory No. 6 issued at 11:00 PM on Tuesday, July 7, for the heavy rainfall outlook due to Tropical Cyclone Inday and the Southwest Monsoon.
Rainfall conditions may still change depending on the movement of Inday and the strength of the Southwest Monsoon.
Residents in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas are advised to monitor Heavy Rainfall Warnings, Thunderstorm Advisories, and other updates from PAGASA Regional Services Divisions and local disaster risk reduction offices.
PAGASA said a Gale Warning will be issued by Wednesday morning or afternoon, July 8, over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon and Visayas.
Within the next 24 hours, rough seas may affect several coastal waters.
Waves may reach up to 4.0 meters over:
– Southeastern seaboard of Isabela
– Northern seaboard of Aurora
– Northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Samar
– Eastern seaboards of Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Siargao-Bucas Grande Islands, and Surigao del Sur
– Eastern and southern seaboards of Davao Oriental
Waves may reach up to 3.5 meters over:
– Eastern seaboards of Batanes, Cagayan, Albay, and Sorsogon

– Northern and eastern seaboards of Polillo Islands
– Northern seaboards of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur
Mariners of small seacrafts, including motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels.
Moderate to rough seas may also affect other coastal waters, with waves reaching up to 2.5 meters over the northern seaboard of mainland Quezon and the remaining seaboards of Batanes and Cagayan.
Waves of up to 2.0 meters may affect the southern seaboards of Southern Leyte and Bohol, the western seaboard of Surigao del Norte, and the western seaboard of the Kalayaan Islands.
Inday is forecast to move generally west northwestward and enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility early Wednesday morning, July 8.
It is expected to turn northwestward while remaining over the Philippine Sea. PAGASA said Inday will be nearest to Extreme Northern Luzon by Friday, July 10, before heading toward the north of Taiwan.
Inday is forecast to maintain its strength as a super typhoon until Thursday, July 9. It may weaken into a typhoon by Thursday afternoon or evening, then gradually weaken further.
However, PAGASA said Inday will likely remain a typhoon throughout the rest of the forecast period.
The next tropical cyclone bulletin will be issued at 5:00 AM on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
