As of 4:00 PM, the center of Severe Tropical StormOpong was located over the coastal waters of Santa Cruz, Occidental Mindoro (13.0°N, 120.3°E), based on all available data including Busuanga Doppler Weather Radar. It has maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center, gusts of up to 150 km/h, and a central pressure of 985 hPa. It is moving west northwestward at 35 km/h.

Heavy rainfall is expected due to Opong and the Southwest Monsoon. Flooding and landslides are possible in high-risk areas.

Storm surge heights of 1.0 to 3.0 m are possible within 24 hours over low-lying or exposed coastal areas of Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Calamian Islands, Masbate including Burias Island, Aklan, and Antique.
Track and Intensity Outlook
- Opong will move towards the West Philippine Sea tonight and is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow afternoon (September 27).
- Opong may re-intensify into a Typhoon within the next 12 hours as it moves over the West Philippine Sea.

The public and disaster risk reduction offices are advised to take precautionary measures and monitor official bulletins. Residents in flood- and landslide-prone areas should prepare for possible evacuation.
