In the COVID Performance Index by Lowy Institute, a study that shows the average performance over time of countries in managing the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippines was ranked 79th in pandemic response out of 98 countries with an average performance of 30.6.
According to Lowy Institute, COVID Performance Index “explores how almost 100 countries with publicly available and comparable data on the virus have managed the pandemic to date following their hundredth confirmed case of COVID-19. ”
These are the 98 countries that were evaluated in the 36 weeks following their hundredth confirmed case of the virus.
The top country in the rank is New Zealand with an average performance of 94.4 and next is Vietnam with 90.8 average. Furthermore, among the top five performing countries are Taiwan, Thailand, and Cyprus.
Furthermore, it was stated that “China was not included in this ranking due to a lack of publicly available data on testing and data for Taiwan is provided separately to that of China.”
