As of early Friday, August 22, 2025, the Low Pressure Area (LPA 08e) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a high potential of developing into a tropical depression within 24 hours. Should this happen, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 may be immediately raised over parts of Central and Northern Luzon.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that as of 2:00 AM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA 08e) inside the PAR has intensified, showing a high likelihood of becoming a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. Due to its close proximity to Luzon’s landmass, the possible storm may trigger the immediate hoisting of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 in parts of Central and Northern Luzon.
If the LPA develops into a tropical depression, areas in Northern and Central Luzon are expected to experience strong winds and heavy rains as early as today. PAGASA continues to monitor its movement and will issue updated bulletins throughout the day.
Short-term (next 2–3 hours):
24-hour Forecast from the LPA (August 22):
24-hour Forecast from the Southwest Monsoon (August 22):
Tomorrow (August 23):
Note: Rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas, and flood or landslide risks may worsen due to previous heavy rains.
Once upgraded into a tropical depression, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 may be immediately raised over parts of Northern and Central Luzon, bringing strong winds that could cause minor to moderate damage to structures and vegetation.
Moderate to rough seas are expected in coastal areas affected by the LPA and enhanced southwest monsoon. Fisherfolk and small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea due to possible strong waves and reduced visibility.
PAGASA reminds the public and local disaster risk reduction offices to prepare for potential floods, landslides, mudslides, and flash floods. Additional rainfall and thunderstorm advisories may be issued as necessary.
The next weather advisory is scheduled for release by PAGASA at 11:00 AM today unless significant changes occur earlier.
