La Trinidad Reinforces COVID-19 Health Measures Amid Rise in Cases

La Trinidad has renewed basic public health precautions following a recent increase in COVID-19 cases, with 15 cases recorded in the municipality as of July 25, 2026.

Mayor Roderick Awingan issued Executive Order No. 103-2026, directing the observance of minimum public health measures among citizens, residents, and visitors to help prevent further transmission of the virus.

According to records cited by the La Trinidad Public Information Office, the 15 recorded cases involve nine males and six females. Their ages range from 11 months to 66 years old.

When Face Masks Are Highly Encouraged

Wearing a face mask remains optional in indoor and outdoor areas. However, the public is highly encouraged to wear one in the following situations:

• Inside healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, laboratories, nursing homes, and dialysis clinics
• Inside medical transport vehicles, such as ambulances and paramedic rescue vehicles
• When a person is sick or has a weakened immune system

Other Health Precautions

The executive order also advises the public to follow these measures:

Wash Hands Frequently

Wash hands with soap and clean water for at least 20 seconds. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer may be used when soap and water are unavailable.

Practice Proper Coughing and Sneezing Etiquette

When coughing or sneezing, members of the public are advised to:

• Cover the mouth and nose with a tissue or wipe
• Dispose of used tissues or wipes immediately
• Use the upper sleeve or arm when no tissue is available
• Avoid coughing into the hands
• Wash hands after coughing or sneezing, coming into contact with an infected person, or touching surfaces that may be contaminated

People should also avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Disinfect Frequently Touched Surfaces

Homes, offices, businesses, and other establishments are advised to regularly clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that are frequently handled.

Maintain Physical Distance

The public is advised to limit unnecessary close contact in crowded areas.

Business and public establishments are also highly encouraged to maintain proper airflow and provide handwashing facilities or hand sanitizers in accessible locations.

The La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, Health Services Office, and barangay officials have been tasked with helping disseminate information about the executive order.
