UPDATE May 27, 2026 11:52 AM:
Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, through Memorandum No. 133, Series of 2021, placed Barangay Ferdinand under hard lockdown, effective today (Wednesday), February 17 until Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
While the Memorandum states, “Henceforth, Brgy. Ferdinand is hereby placed under hard lockdown, effective at 6:00 a.m. of 17 February 2021 until 5 p.m. of 23 February 2021“, the Public Information Office of the City of Baguio (PIO Baguio) has since edited their announcement clarifying that only portions of Barangay Ferdinand are under hard lockdown.
“…a certain portion (not the entire area) of barangay Ferdinand under hard lockdown,” stated PIO Baguio.
For the duration of the lockdown, all persons shall remain within the confines of their homes, except in cases of emergency medical necessities.
The concerned offices were directed by Mayor Magalong to provide assistance to the affected residents of the barangay for the duration of the lockdown. The hard lockdown may be lifted earlier subject to recommendations of the contact tracing analysts and field medical officers.
Based on the memorandum, the local COVID-19 Task Force has been informed of a new cluster of cases in Barangay Ferdinand, thus hard lockdown has been implemented to contain and manage the transmission of the virus within the area.
