To aid other local government units (LGUs) in the country, the city government of Baguio has set up a new web domain that will enable it to share its Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) data collection tool.
“This will lead to better decision-making crucial to containing the spread of the virus.”
– Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong
This good news has been announced by the Public Information Office – City of Baguio earlier today, July 9, 2020.
Baguio City’s contact tracing system uses a multi-pronged approach that involves detection, isolation, testing, and tracing
The system works through the integration of the following:
During the Management Committee meeting held on July 7, 2020, Mayor Benjamin Magalong has revealed that the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has approved the city’s application for a new domain.
The said domain can be used by LGUs that are interested to set up their own information system. It will aid them in data collection, real-time monitoring, and management of COVID-19 cases.
According to Executive Assistant V Philip Puzon, here’s how other LGUs can use the domain:
Aside from allowing the LGUs to utilize the domain, the city will also teach them how to use the data collection tool and the link analysis software.
On the other hand, Baguio City has also previously shared the technology to its neighboring provinces in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
And yesterday, July 8, 2020, Mayor Magalong and some members of the city’s contact tracing team flew to the City of Cebu to conduct contact tracing training to key police and government personnel in the area.
After Cebu City, as reported by the Public Information Office – City of Baguio, other cities including Zamboanga, Muntinlupa, and Bacoor; and even the Department of Environment and Natural Resources central office; have also requested help from the City of Baguio in setting up or improving their own contact tracing schemes.
